Company Contributes Leadership to NEHI Effort to Frame a Vision of “Health Care Without Walls”

Company’s Chief Financial Officer Andrea Clegg to Co-Lead NEHI Initiative’s Regulatory Work Stream

October 4, 2017- Saint Louis, MO- Advanced ICU Care, the nation’s leading provider of high-acuity telemedicine services, today announced that the company has joined NEHI (The Network for Excellence in Health Innovation), in a collaborative initiative intended to frame a vision for Health Care Without Walls.

NEHI is a national nonprofit, nonpartisan organization composed of stakeholders from across all key sectors of health and health care. Its mission is to advance innovations that improve health, enhance the quality of health care, and achieve greater value for the money spent. As a leader in providing tele-ICU services, Advanced ICU Care had particular interest in the project because it draws on current and future technologies, including telehealth and remote monitoring. It also addresses other new modes of care delivery, new payment models, a greater focus on population health, and an augmented health care work force, among other innovations. The overarching goal of the endeavor is to bring health and health care closer to individuals, arguably creating a more efficient health care system, expanding access, and lowering costs.

The NEHI project consists of five work streams – technology, payments, regulatory, human factors and workforce. Each work stream is intended to advance a research, thought leadership, and action-oriented agenda, identify the measures needed to achieve the benefits of more distributed care systems and determine the steps necessary to overcome barriers related to making the Health Care Without Walls vision possible.

NEHI Health Care Without Walls

Advanced ICU Care’s chief financial officer, Andrea Clegg, will be co-chairing the project’s federal and state regulatory work stream. She will partner to lead a larger group of industry thought leaders as they work to identify problem sets and potential solutions related to federal and state regulations which may be behind the technological curve. Their work will also address how “smart regulation” could enhance the reality of “health care without walls.”

“I am honored to help lead NEHI’s regulatory work stream and look forward to collaborating with an esteemed group of health care visionaries as we work to advance the vision of ‘health care without walls’,” said Andrea Clegg, chief financial officer, Advanced ICU Care.

“NEHI is delighted to collaborate with Advanced ICU Care on this initiative, which is designed to build on innovative technologies to stimulate beneficial transformation within health care,” said Susan Dentzer, President and CEO of NEHI. “Andrea’s experience as a CFO will bring enormous value to the regulatory work stream and help us produce truly thought-provoking recipes for public policy and organizational change.”

The overall objective of the project is to produce a series of thought leadership products that will recommend policy changes to be made at the state and federal level. It will also address steps to be taken by private sector organizations to adapt to, or usher in, the new care ecosystem. The suite of thought leadership products will be presented by Clegg and her peers and discussed at a culminating conference in Washington, D.C. in mid-2018.
